BREAK-OUT SESSIONS

1. Cities of Albion

You and 5 team mates take on the roles of leaders in a common city, the City of Albion, in this strategy computer game. Each of you is responsible for a different aspect of society and must achieve the set goals for the area under your care. Each decision you make impacts others and you will quickly learn that developing a successful city is not as easy as it seems.

2. O$P$ (Owe Money Pay Money)

To Grab or to Train? Starbucks or LiHo? Choices we often take for granted in daily living are magnified in this Card Game. You will be put through some of the tough spending choices low-income families face on a daily basis. Incomes shape our everyday decisions about family, friends and health, and we hope you might catch some of these impacts through this experience. The dilemmas and character profiles in O$P$ are based on Singapore data which makes for an uncomfortable but necessary reality check for all.

3. Megaloprokopé

Who wants to build a nation? As part of 48 players in a mega board game, you will build up an island nation-state and assume the role of ministries whose work impacts both the hard and soft aspects of urban planning. Grappling with both national and agency-level issues, policy trade-offs and the need for a cohesive approach in policy-making, how will you define and deliver success for your nation?

4. Stress Nexus! Challenge

This fast-paced and adrenaline-pumping board game exposes 12 players to the role of a country minister or MNC director, where your objective is to maximise capital. How you get there is entirely up to your own persuasion. Illustrating the importance of cooperation and information sharing, this game is based on the real-life context of energy, water, and food security nexus that countries face to survive. The complex nature of the ecosystem requires you to cooperate effectively in order to succeed. Or does it really?
